When I got this one it was still labeled: aerangis hildebrandtii. It resembles the microterangis haritiona, but the plant and flowers are smaller and more uniform in color. It's a reliable bloomer, albeit a finicky one.

Thanks Kim. This one is so hard to get here that it's almost scary to grow it. It seems to like my conditions, so I'm hopeful that eventually it will develop some basal keikis.

I had never heard of this one before, and the name is really weird! Very cute blooms, the spikes are quite long!
Is that spanish moss you have wrapped around the mount? If it is, that's one very tiny plant then!

That's Spanish moss you see. The mount is quite big for the plant, but the spikes are so long that it's needed. It's very hard to come by here and I'd love to know how to encourage it to form basal keikis. The flowers are not quite 3mm. each.

That small??? Wow! When I first saw the pic, not knowing anything about this orchid I thought that it was some giant plant with a 2 foot spike! I was so so so wrong!

You shouldn't have any problem getting it to keiki. It will turn into a specimen in a couple years, should you keep it happy that is. I grow ours a little more moist than most other Aerangis.

One way to distinguish hildebranti from hariotiana is the leaves. Hildebrantii has more lanceolate leaves where as hariotiana is more ovate. Very little difference otherwise.
