when to cut spike
:hello I recently purchased a peggy ruth carpenter 'morning joy'. It is in bloom right now and I am wondering does it re-flower from old spikes or do I cut it like my gower ramsey and wildcat, when the blooms are done? Many thanks!

this won't rebloom from a previously bloomed spike - you can cut it :)

Sonya is right, also: you need to cut it to let the plant know that its done blooming and a new bulb must be produced...and new roots must come forth

That is the next orchid I want to buy, probably from an online store as I have never seen one in person.
They just look soooooo beautiful in a very exotic way to me. |
Thanks for the replies everyone, it's still in flower right now. I will cut it off when it's done :)
The vendor I bought from had 2 of them, they said they were very popular. Mine smells like spice. It's my sons favorite orchid so far :) Cheryl |
