Can I save this Den bracteosum cutting????
 

So, my wife was asking a vendor at the Tamiami show about this Den bracteosum, and when he said there were no more plants left and all he had was the example cutting he gave it to her! It's beautiful, and I know she is happy to enjoy the blooms while the cutting lasts (I have it in water for now), but I am wondering if there is anything I can do to make this cutting throw a keiki? If not, no worries. :)

Maybe try some hormone rooting powder and then keeping it in water? I managed to root a Nepenthes cutting that way recently, but then you are supposed to be able to root stem cuttings of Nepenthes.

Also, if you put dendrobium canes (at least for some types) flat on some damp sand, they often sprout from the nodes.

So pretty! Very nice of the grower to give you that, even though it's just a cutting.
I was going to suggest something similar to what Discus wrote, in that laying in on a damp bed (of sphag is what I've heard) will often wake up the nodes.

probably you could stick it inside a empty plastic water bottle. some gravel at the bottom and spray it a little so it keeps the humidity high. you could spray winth H2 O2 to prevent mold. WOnder if KLN would help

after the flowers are gone: theres many nodes so you may cut it in half and keep it dry in a bright sunny side of your house the humid atmosphere in your area is a great help...pretty soon they will take roots then after it reaches a couple of inches long, then you can pot it or mount it...
