Orchids in Bloom: Masdevallia coccinea 'Dwarf Pink'

One of my favorite Masdies, although I don't even own any. Very cool how the blooms fade out like that over time, at firs I thought it was a shot of multiple plants side by side.

I wish I could grow more of these but most of them have such long spikes that I can't fit them.

Hi Ron, Looks great. When you say long spikes, how long are we talking? I've been thinking about tring these, but not sure if I can keep the growing area cold enough.

Hi Bill. Thanks for commenting. The spikes on a normal coccinea are 12" or more, not that long, but too long for me. They're not very tolerant of anything but cool temps, though.
