Fine Cattleya loddigesii 'Laura Trevisan'

This Cattleya loddigesii bloomed for me for the first time three years ago during the last week of July, just when my grandma was completing 90 year old. So, like it is a fine flower for the species I named it after her. She is an adorable 92-year-old lady now and I love her very much.

The spots on the flowers appear to be variable, sometimes showing, sometimes not. Last year’s flowers lacked them..
This, and a still better other clone named ‘Iza’, came out of a sib made using two of the best Cattleya loddigesii available around, Cat. loddigesii ‘Vera Lucia’ and C. loddigesii ‘Senhorita’.
Here you can take a look at ‘Iza’ that flowered for me a month ago. Hope you like them!

Thanks for sharing the pics. What a beautiful color you got with 'Iza'. I like your container too. Happiness is seeing the bloom and the patience to wait.

Mauro, every morning when I log on to OB I come to the Catt forum first to see what newly bloomed plant is in your greenhouse. It's been a real treat to see so many lovely and unusual catts. You really do have the magic touch. :) Thank you so much for sharing so much beauty with the rest of us.

I love the one you named after your grandmother. That's very sweet of you.

Terri, Lorraine, it's been a pleasure for me sharing a little of what I have. It is so good having such a formidable tool like Internet and sites like this forum that allow people to share their experiences, visions, orchids...
Thank you very much, Terri. Your nice words made my day:D !

Mauro,
This one ("Vera Lúcia" x "Senhorita") are made by Biorchids, right? Do you know if they still have some plants to sell? This cross aren't in their site, and I've mailed them without any answer...

Yes, Frederico, it is a sib cross made by Gerson Calore of Biorchids years ago. I believe they don't have any plants left, or, if they do, it must be a few. I've been visiting them at this time of the year to look for good C. loddigesii, but could not find anything more of this sow.
It seems that Biorchids sold out all the plants they had to Flores Vivas, another nursery located in Varzea Paulista, São Paulo. I got mine from them. If you want one of these, I think that you probably only will find it available there. I know that they have picked up and put apart some incredibly round flowers of this sow. Talk to them. They probably still have some plants available. Here's a link to their site Flores Vivas

I just LOVE that you named that beauty after your grandmother :D Such a sign of love and respect :D

Again, they're beautiful, as always :D

As usual, gorgeous
What a nice gesture as a living memorial to your grandma.
It's wonderful knowing why an orchid has a named attached to it - it makes it even that much more meaningful to have.
Thanks for sharing :)

Thank you, Mauro!
I already mailed them! There are four addresses in the site, the nursery itself (in Várzea Paulista) and (I assume) some trade points, the CEASA and the Orquidário Morumby; Orq. Morumby for me is terrific, 'cause I live very near them! I've bought some plants from "Flores Vivas", they use a characteristic wooden basket, like the ones in which your loddigesiis are potted.

To have a better idea of the true color, I photographed ‘Laura Trevisan’ in the soft morning light today to try to eliminate the ‘steal’ effect seen in the first photo above, which was taken in harder light. Hope you like it.
