Cycnoches Jumbo Cooper

This is Cycnoches Jumbo Cooper (warcewiczii x cooperi) which just opened and has the most incredible and pleasant scent. Second time flowering, with fewer flowers than last time (but I was here to see it). The plant has a habit of shooting out the pollen on slight movement, which happened to one flower in the picture (and it is thus fading already)

Hmmm, I think you may have less flowers because they are hermaphroditic. I know male Cyc. Have a fringed lip, and the female lip is much more shorter and rounded. Also, there usually tends to be less female than male flowers per inflorescense, which if it is hermaphroditic, would explain the lower flower count.

Ah yes, I didn't notice. But on closer inspection you are probably right

Those flowers are NOT hermaphroditic, but male flowers... there is indeed a group of Cycnoches with male flower with fringed lip (e.g. cooperi) and another group with male flowers with big lips not fringed (e.g. warscewiczii)... for more detail information, I recommend to read the AOS articles posted as a sticky on this forum
Cyc Jumbo Cooper is a hybrid between both groups and the second is normally dominant for the lip, as it is seen on these flowers... Your flowers are males flowers, typical of this hybrid... if you have now less flowers, it might be a cause of less optimal growing conditions this time... or just the plant "decided" to have a rest :)

Definitely male flowers, as Ramon said. Looks good!

This is the second flowering this year: so it is not surprising that the plant has less flowers. It has a wonderful scent.

Ok, that makes sense! Thanks for the clarification! :D
