Confused about names again

Hello,
Some time ago I got a Dtps hybrid from Kingfishers Orchids, it was labeled Dtps. Freed's Beautiful Girl 'Blue' X Phal Equestris 'Alba'.
Recently I found out that cross between Dtps. Freed's Beautiful Girl X Phal equestris was registered as Dtps Tariflor Purple Cupid in 2009.
Would that make my plant the Dtps Tariflor Purple Cupid or the fact that my parents have 'blue' and 'alba' in their names makes my plant totally different.
Thanks a lot

Yes, the var of the pod and pollen plants dont matter, only the name of the plants used. Hence why some people remake old crosses using alba and coerulea forms, while keeping the same name of the cross. Good luck though, from pics, it has definite potential!

Great, thank you zxyqu! So, I can change the label on my plant from long one with X to a real name - Dtps Tariflor Purple Cupid.
Where did you find a picture of it? I was looking through the web to compare to mine but found zero :(.
Here is mine when it arrived with blooms:

Oh, I actually was speaking of the parents used. I didn't try looking at the named one, since that isn't necessarily what yours will look like.
Yours looks more light purple than I would have guessed, but I dont know which equestris was used. Nor do I know how good equestris is at taking color in a cross. I like it though!

Probably it is pale because equestris was 'alba'.
I think it is pretty too.

For whatever name it has...it is a beautiful flower and my oh my...a big specimen at that

Orchideye,

Your plant label should read:

Dtps Tariflor Purple Cupid '*clonal name of your choice'
(Dtps. Freed's Beautiful Girl X Phal equestris)

*You apparently have a seedling, or a one of a kind plant from that cross, and are entitled to put your own name on the cultivar. It is a little like naming your child when it is born. :waving

Thank you! The spike died after I repotted the plant, but it grows a new leaf and couple new roots now. It is a great plant!
