Phrag pearcei watering help

Looking for the info on watering of my Phrag pearcei, I am getting mixed results. Some say to let the mix dry out to avoid root rot, some say to keep it always moist, some suggest to put pot it into tray with water, some show them growing in the vase with moss and water.
:scratchhead:
Is here anybody growing successfully Phrag. pearcei who could share their watering technique, please?
Mine is potted into clear plastic pot with Shultz bark mix, sits on the windowsill with air humidity around 60%. which probably will go down to 40-50% with all the heating.
Thank you so much.

I got one of these from Mitch and he told me he keeps his Phrags moist most of the time and that is what I've read, also.

Thank you BikerDoc. So basically I shouldn't worry about overwatering it?
Can I water when the top of the mix is dry but I still can see the perspiration drops inside the pot, or should I wait until there is no perspiration drops on the pot walls?
Thanks again.

Phrags do not like to dry out.

Thank you Joann! I will increase the watering. I was afraid to rot the roots and was waiting for a week between waterings because could see through the clear pot walls that medium still looks wet inside while it is bone dry at the top.
Probably every three days should keep it wet enough.

Thank you for the link, keithrs. It is a great info.
I was sort of upset by this:
"The single flower stays on the plant for only a couple of days."
:)

This one if fairly difficult to overwater, its a wet grower. it'll get real cranky if left to dry out. Just a nice open moist media would make this gal happy.

Phrag pearcei watering

I have had this species for close to 10 years in a tray of water and I always keep it wet. It flowers abundantly. In the wild or in natural conditions, it is usually found on rocks in stream beds or along edges of streams. I would have to search for a old volume of Bull of AOS to find an article about this. Keeping it wet is a must.

Thank you Gloria and jondel. With heating working now, the top surface of bark gets dry after one day. So, should I water it evry day then?
Thanks again.
