Angraecum distichum (in spectacular blooms)
5 Attachment(s)
Presenting Angraecum distichum, who loves a hot and humid environment, small Lockhartia-like epiphyte from elevations of 200 to 1600 meters with leafy stems that form large clumps and carrying distichous, falcately oblong-elliptic, bilaterally compressed leaves that blooms on a very short, axillary, solitary flowered inflorescence with a long-lived, tiny, fragrant flower that blooms at any time of the year on new leaves and most often more than one. Cuttings can be made of side branches as they will root out quickly if potted in a standard bark mix with high humidity and fairly heavy shade. I got this mounted on cork bark and didn’t mess with it. I spray it every morning and just let it grow and expand into a large specimen to create spectacular blooms all year round…this is near the humidifier and the heater for the winter and will go out the fire escape in the hot and humid summers of Manhattan.

Lord you're gifted! I though NY was up past its soft parts in snow! LOL Ace job!!!!
|
Thanks for looking, Dude ! I had all my plants indoors and in full heater and humidifier one week before we had the snowstorms...I am a windowsill grower and I make sure to research on my plants before I even attempt to own it...
|
Ace! I'm still waiting for the tail end of NY's snow to get here; we normally get the rear end of anything you get lol.

It must have been delayed due to the unexpected snowstorms...no worries it will get there soon...

The roots are oh so fine!!! as you saw in my post i have little rocks in the teeny pot mine is in. i lifted them the other day and i saw bunch of new roots growing. it seems it doesn't make many all too often. this is only the second time ive seen it make any roots since i got it and that was close to 5 years ago.
Yours is huge!! and lovely! |
Thanks Cattleya 17...I was glad I saw your post otherwise I would of forgotten about this...its such a teeny tiny plant and tiny crystalline white flowers...this grows roots and sprouts very slow...but they can sure stick and stay clinging steadfast to the cork bark...I gave away to two friends some cuttings of these(with four sprouts on each pot)or this would have been even bushier...

Nice big plant! One of my favorite minis. Thanks for posting.

Impressive specimen! This is such a cool mini. I love orchids that have interesting growth habits like this one.
