New chids on my block

After an exhausting week of not purchasing one single, solitary orchid I had a welcome package arrive today...

Cattleya dowiana var. aurea – NFS
Laelia purpurata var. tipo rosada ´Claudio No 1´ x ´Brazil´ - NFS
Cattleya Francise Hoshino – NBS
Dtps. Lih Jiang Beauty x I Hsin Smile – SDLNG
Dtps. Roman Valentine – SDLG
Catt. mossiae var alba - SDLG (freebie)
Cattleya dowiana var. aurea - SDLG
Aerangis somalensis - NFS/FS

Well, why not? :D

Wow, did you win the lottery, or do you live in a cardboard box!?!?   Where do you get the money to buy all these 'chids? Your choices sound awesome, but I am also increadibly jealous as you can still buy 'chids while it is too cold here for shipping.

Most of these just came in from Germany and I have one more shipment from Germany to come in next week and another from England next week, too. Temps aren't so bad here yet, in fact it's been quite mild here this week.

My cardboard box is blissfully tiny - I really can't handle a bigger house these days anyway so I spoil myself almost on almost weekly basis. ;) The Dowiana seedling was the most expensive - by size - at around 25 Euros for a 4 cm pot (if that!) the NFS one was the price of a decent holiday in Hawaii, well, maybe not quite that much but enough to make you break a sweat LOL. I generally look around to see who has what before I buy and I generally can only find what I want from specific European countries but the prices here seem to be far cheaper than in North America; one catt that I have is for sale in the US for $1,000+ but mine, flowering size, was less than 30 Euros.

Great selection!

I have a cattleya dowiana var. aurea as well that is NFS and I just hope it will some day bloom!

LOL I know, the stress could make milk curdle.

Dude! I like your latest haul...but 25euros can get me a specimen blooming size here...yep you guys have cheaper prices for Dutch and German hybrids..when it gets here it triple the amount...but I wont buy a thousand dollar orchid for all its might!

That's what I love about Europe, orchids are cheaper!! My favorite grower (in Italy) has nearly everything priced at 12.50€, so I go nuts there. And a dutch grower has amazing plants for similar prices, with some even cheaper than that. I'll be ordering there as soon as my new bankcard arrives (I was pickpocketed last week...)

Yeah but it doesn't cost you a dime to keep beer cold or chill a bottle of Chardonnay !

I look across the pond with, sometimes, deep envy at the hybrids I'd love to sink my wallet into! :D

Being that Cody is only 16, I doubt that he is keeping beer cold or chilling a bottle of Chardonnay, anyway I sure hope he isn't.:rofl:
