Abnormal miniature orchid leaves, Leptotes bicolor.
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/4660/p1080693t.jpg
This Leptotes acquired a big problem with root rot, after removing the dead roots, I could only save one, after much care and dedication she survived, developing new roots and new leaves appeared at last, I thought it would grow more and get fat, but it has not happened, but it has brought new leaves and continue the same. Small and thin, nothing to do with the authentic one Leptotes bicolor leaves. I do not understand what may be the problem. The first leaf bag was outside with plenty of light but little moisture, 40% minimum, now the new leaves have grown with high humidity, over 70% and LED lights. We continue to grow new roots and leaves, but I want to grow big and strong. This type of leaf has only happened with Leptotes, as with the other have brought new leaves and buds, strong and glossy and normal size. Any ideas? Regards. |
Given that the plant had only one root left when it started the recovery process, I would think that small growths at first may be normal. 1 root may not be enough to sustain itself and make normal sized leaves. As the plant recovers and makes more growths, as long as each new one is bigger than the previous, then I think it's fine.

Let me calmer, will put the evolution of the plant. A greeting and thank you very much. |
Slamandra, you have to look at your plant as being a patient. You have done a tremendous job, getting it to grow again. Now it has to build up strength. It may take a few more leaves before you see flowers again, but it's worth it. Lepanthes are supposed to be easy to grow, but I've found that's not the case.

It is a strong plant, my little orchid sick, is recovering. :D |
leptopes are slow growing anyway. you get a large one and then it hurts from rotten roots. it takes much longer for the pain to be repaired by the smaller plant. it has to start over again. this time ,not having the advantage of being grown in a greenhouse will be much slower recovery.
heres a happy one to make yours better and have 14 buds :) http://i1204.photobucket.com/albums/...cture077-1.jpg |
