Doritaenopsis Bonita

During my visit to Claessen Orchideen in Netherlands I discovered this hidden gem: Doritaenopsis Bonita, i.e. P. stuartiana X Doritis buyssoniana. I fell in love instantly.

It's pity that on their website neither the picture nor the name (Doritis pulcherrima hybride) do it justice.

Gorgeous!
Wonder why they don't put the name on their website? Good to know which it is, so I can order it!

Mr. Claessen said that it was an old hybrid in the nursery and the tag had been lost and he wasn't sure what hybrid it is. But now the name and the picture on the website have been updated.

Have you noticed their P. schilleriana 'Pink Butterfly' AM/AOS? I picked one from at least two dozens - all of them looking very healthy and in bloom - and the feeling of being among them was something special. And of course, my other schilleriana which I bought a couple of months ago from Elsner as '6 months from flowering size' has just decided to grow a spike. Coincidence? Jealousy? The power of example?

Val, that sounds like a great strategy, whatever it is. I'm going to a show in 2 weeks, and can think of a plant or 2 in my collection that could do with a bit of competition.

It is a lovely orchid. The color texture and shape gives it a sophistication in hybrid and it is quite similar to its parents even if the hybrid has moves one step level

I noticed those schillies at the show this weekend, but didn't get one because I was short on cash. Still kicking myself for that. Claessen was the last table I stopped at. I had ordered a blooming size schillie from Claessen at the end of August, but when I got the package it was a seedling. Turns out the price on the website was right, but not the description. Going to have to wait years for blooms... :(
