Thank you

Nice and strong. Your plant is Beallara Tahoma Glacier - needs less cold than a plain odontoglossum. Watch the waterings - old bulbs tend to rot! Wonderful display!

I've noticed that some of the leaves are wrinkled, like an accordion. Is she telling me she needs water?

RosieC 10-03-2011 11:04 AM

Accordion leaves do means it's been a bit dry. But they don't go back to shape when it has enough, so it's difficult to know if they are from an old problem or a current one.

The best thing is to observe new growths and if they are pleating then yes it needs watering a little more.

I find getting the balance really difficult with my oncidium alliance orchids, so usually have pleated leaves on them.

I'll keep a eye on the new growths.

Howdy
Yes, it is Beallara Tahoma Glacier 'Green'

If the pleated / accordian leaves are across the leaf, then it is a water/humidity thing.

if the pleated leaves are whole leaf long -- the folds are from bottom to top, then it is genetic. They like moisture, never completely drying out, but they will rot if over watered. So be careful, and enjoy a very nice cultivar. A very rewarding one with such large flowers, and long spikes as the plant gets to be more mature.

Take care
Happy growing
