Den. Enobi Purple 'Splash' in spike!

I am so excited :). I got a small Den. Enobi Purple 'Splash' in Feb. at the orchid show in Edmonton. It came bare root from Taiwan and I worried that it would even survive at first. 2 of the 3 PB's with leaves dropped them all immediately and the newest one kept two leaves. I nursed it carefully and put it in a 2" clay pot with moss. Over spring and summer it grew a new growth and many roots from it. Now it has a small spike about 1/2 inch long

It is about 3/4 bigibbum and some phalaenopsis in it. Does anyone have an idea of how long this will take to be in bloom? I need to know how much patience to muster up! And I am biting my nails until I see if it really is a 'Splash' also. I was told it was for sure but....

OK, some time today I will post a picture.

I noticed the spike a week or two ago and am just wondering if these spikes develop real slow or quite fast having never had one of these dendrobiums before, only the nobile type which are quite different.

OK, here is a photo of my cute little dendrobium. I see the spike grow in length each day and it's now about 3/4 of an inch.

Anybody out there have any idea how long till it blooms? I know Hawaiiansunshine has this one or takes photos of it.

It'll be exciting to watch how it blossoms. :)

It depends on your conditions of course, but I think my bigibbum hybrid takes about 2 months to grow the spike and buds. It has a spike on it almost ready to bloom, but I can't remember when it started growing...

Thanks for the tip. I'll post a picture of the blooms whenever they show up :)

This is going to be a tough wait, isn't it?

Yes it is, because I am anxious to confirm that it is the splash variety. The timing is a bit off because if it wasn't, I could maybe get another one at the Calgary show which is in two weeks.

But I think it will be a splash and I will just be patient!

My bigibbum is slow with spikes, but could be due to perhaps lower than ideal night temps :dunno:
Hope you don't have to wait too long!
