New orchidarium!

My ultrasonic fogger came in the mail today. So, of course, I had to think of something to do with it (had to play with my new toy). So I decided to make the display (lower) half of the bookcase I built, into an orchidarium/waterscape. First, I lined the bookcase with plastic (to protect the wood). Then, I left the plants in their pots, built the floor up to the top of the pots, and reservoir/pond, using bunched up material. Next, I covered everything with landscaping weed cloth, cutting out holes for the plants and pond. After everything is covered, I spent about an hour strategically placing lava rocks, and a few other kinds of rock thrown in for contrast. I left the tops of the pots free of rocks, for easy watering. I placed decorative moss over these areas to blend it into the landscape. Still deciding whether I want plexiglass in the front. I guess I'll see how it does without, and add if needed. If I do, I will have to ventilate......this is sharing a circuit with my computer!:scratchhead:

WOW JASEN!!!!!! THAT LOOKS AWESOME!!!!! I WANT ONE!!!!!!!
Plexiglass is easily scratched, but inexpensive, but I have never played around in the stuff...this is just want I am told.....I am very jealous!!!!!! |
Looks very peaceful. Excellent job.
I don't think you need to put glass in front of it since it will get enough moisture from the fogger. |
