Two labled Pleiones... but which of them is this a picture of?
OK... so I bought two Pleiones in March. When one of them flowered in April I took pictures but never got around to labeling the photos. When the other flowered I never got around to taking pictures.
So... now I have photos and while both my plants are tagged I don't know which they are a picture of. It is either... 1. Pleione britannia 'Doreen' 2. Pleione formosa I've looked at online pictures of both britannia and formosa online and I'm still not sure. I'm leaning towards britannia because in some pictures formosa has a whiter lip, however some pictures of formosa have similar colouring to this. So anyone have any idea... http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6198/...7d267955_m.jpg |
Orchidwiz has only pics of formosa, and all the pics show a white lip. So I'm tempted to think the same as you, that it's more likely to be britannia. Guess you'll know for sure when they bloom again!

I found a Pleione website with a nice pic of each. www.pleione.info Also noticed in the pics here and on OW that Britannia's yellow frills in the lip are a much brighter yellow than formosa. So still think it's the Britannia.

Thank Camille, from that link you posted I think I definitely agree.
My fault for not naming the photos when I tool them. I have a big directory of Orchid pics from May onwards that have not been sorted and just dumped together. Most of them are not a problem putting names on now, but this one gave me problems. |
