Mokara Chao Praya Boy 'Blue' (In Bloom!)
 

This is an orchid that loves to be in direct sunlight, loves the hot humid Manhattan summers on the fire escape...watered twice a day in summer and soaked once a week in a basin of worm tea and seaweed...in winter it gets to be indoors inside a large glass vase watered every other day and once a week dipped for five min in seaweed and worm tea mix(I dont give it a rest period in winter)...it rewarded me last month with large starlike blooms that has a faint ivory soap smell...that lasted for 5 weeks

Just LOVE that colour!

Love it. Such a nice shape and color. Are Mokara's easy to bloom? Someone once told me they are difficult to bloom.

Willeke, Mokaras are easy to bloom...if you give them lots of water and sunshine...fertilizers is a must because they feed so much...they can grow five leaves in three months and they bloom several times a year. Mokaras were made for the florists shop; they need cut flowers like Mokaras because it can stay for up to 10 days as a cut flower in a floral arrangement...and Mokaras can give a magnificent display of blooms...if your vandas love you...the Mokaras will adore you.
