Meyers Conservatory aka Troy Meyers
If ones wanting to grow seedlings I suggest getting on the waiting list for a flask or two from Troy Meyers.
Great quality plants. On top of that, Great service too!!! Which for some reason is hard to get these days. |
If I someday ever feel I might be able to manage a flask, I will definitely start there! Have always heard great things about them!

Troy doesn't sell just flasks. He also sells mounted seedlings. My problem with this is that they are so small and fragile I cannot give them the TLC they need. So, as tempting as his offerings are, I have decided not to buy from him. Nothing against him or his business or his plants.

I have purchased a lot of plants from Troy. it's a good way to get plants that would be hard to find otherwise. I currently have two phal species from him - a really nice sumatrana and a very rare cornu-cervi v. chattaladae - available on my list.
Ex-flask plants can be small, but they're not all THAT fragile. They arrive deflasked, and I pot 'em up (usually with sphag, to start) individually or in compots, depending upon their size. |
They really are not that difficult to take care. I put them under lights for the first few weeks and then out to the greenhouse they go. Pretty simple process to pot them up. Troy has so many nice species, and as stated above the service is terrific.

Ray, your website doesn't show this mysterious Cornu-cervi var chatt, nor a sumatrana. I'd love to get into some more trouble to pick these up

I have bought flasks from him as well as sent seed to be flasked. Great thing is that if you donate seed, you automatically get a free flask. Also, there is a tutorial on how to pot up deflasked seedlings. Highly recommended - check out the website: Flask and Established Seedling Sales, and Flasking Programs
