What are the risks of having an phal orchid buried too deep into pot?
2 Attachment(s)
Good Morning everyone from TN! I was looking over my orchids this morning and I noticed one that my bf replanted for me (because I was too ill) looks a little too deep into the pot. I'm worried the roots will get too much moisture but it does have several ventilation holes cut out in the pot. Should I just repot this real quick? He did it on Sunday with me. Would it be too soon? I'm enclosing two pics of the orchid. Thank you very much for your wisdom!

It doesn't look to bad to me. The main issue is if the base of the leaves is under the medium, that can cause rot into the centre of the plant. Otherwise I don't think you have too much to worry about.

:agree: I think it looks perfect. :)

Thank you for your quick replies. You guys are the best.

Other than the fact that it is planted low in the pot, the plant is perfectly fine the way it is. If it were buried too deeply in the medium, it would not have been a problem were you to have repotted it again.

Glengary54 and others, I should have used wording more correctly. Cloudy brain! I was concerned it was planted too low in the pot. But, others said it looked fine. Is it so low that I should repot again?

Don't confuse being deep in the pot with being deep in the "media" or potting mix.
Regardless of where the plant sits depth-wise in the pot, the potting mix should not come up too high on the crown. Your plant looks fine :) |
