Another NOID Needing ID Help!
A Great Day to All:
I hope you all don't mind my many requests for ID help. At last count, I have 61 NOIDs out of 175 plants! I don't know how to say "NO!" when it comes to free orchids!! The following noid just bloomed - http://www.orchidboard.com/community...s/IMG_1055.jpg This is what the plant itself looks like - http://www.orchidboard.com/community...s/IMG_1056.jpg This is a picture of the same plant blooming several years ago - http://www.orchidboard.com/community...ld_unknown.jpg This plant has been in my family for at least 15 years. Any help or a point in the right direction is appreciated!! |
Checked one of my books, and think i found it.
Brassocattleya Binosa (Brassavola nodosa x Cattleya bicolor) |
Sue (cb977) has a pic of hers in the gallery. I don't know if there are different kinds or not but it definately looks very similar to me!

D&S  I agree it looks like a Bc. Binosa. Is it fragrant???
|
Survey says....Bc. Binosa. Pretty sure of it, I was going to buy one a couple weeks ago. Still planning on it!
|
I thought it was fragrant but nothing yet - flowers have only been open for 2 days now. I might not be checking at the right times to catch it.
One of the easiest blooms I have and sits outdoors all year round. I've neglected it badly in the past and it just keeps on chugging along. I've started a fertilizing regiment this year and the plant has started to grow like a weed! Thanks all for your help! |
The ID is right on ! I remember it being listed at Hausermanns long time ago, think it still might be .. Very pretty ....Gin

If it has b. nodosa in it, it will scent at night. Check the evening and before you go to bed for any fragrance! :)

Binosa is one of the most 'famous' brassavola nodosa hybrids. Your plant looks like Binosa to me
