Hanging baskets in the house.
I have an idea for hanging my basket orchids in the house but have not been able to find what I'm looking for. You know the metal rods you buy for outdoors to hang hanging pots on, I was wondering if there was something similar to that which can be used inside. If not, how do you guys hang yours inside?
I'm asking because I have several hanging baskets this year which I did not have last year. I would like to find some way to keep them in the windowsill as opposed to taking them to the basement under grow lights. |
I used some metal from a home improvement center and a rod and hung them from that. I have also used eyebolts in the ceiling and 550 paracord to hang stuff. If you want something that will not damage the walls or ceiling you could put an outside hanger in a bucket with some concrete in it.

Paul, I sometimes use the triangular wall-mounted brackets available at garden centers and big box stores. Depending on where you go you may find a number of different sizes, types, and colors. I like the swiveling ones because I can quickly reposition plants as needed. I attach them to my windowframes with self-tapping woodscrews.
More often, though, I just screw a few cup hooks along the top and sides of the windows. These are similar to eyebolts but are open on one side. The ones about 1 cm across are robust enough to hold several 8" baskets as long as I screw them in tight. Does that sound like what you're looking for? --Nat |
