Cymbidium devonianum growing has stopped!
Hi everybody!!
I have a Cym. devonianum since autumn, it stood the winter temperatures (-2º C in winter) and started growing in spring. However, the 2 new shoots that were growing suddenly stopped doing so and I can not come to the reason why this happened. The plant has 5 bulbs and it does not look like having any kind of disease nor parasites. I even had a look at its roots and they were perfectly ok, growing and healthy. My culture is 25-30ºC (highest temp. during the day), 8-12ºC (at night) and some sunlight at morning and afternoon. Can anybody help me to make it grow again? Thanks. |
I don't grow this species, so can't provide any help - sorry - here's a :bump: so that hopefully someone else can help

I do grow cym. devonianum. Mine here in the UK has just put on a couple of new growths since it finished flowering. These growths are now about 15cm long.
I don't take that much notice of how fast the growths develop but I would not worry if mine stalled for a few months. |

I have one no name cym w/ only 2 new ones and its in full sun all morning to around noonish when the death line appears. Been Growing like a weed (all 2 new growths..woohooo) :blushing: I even think its shooting a spike up for this autumn. But thats my :twocents: if inflation hasnt knocked it down to A single pence yet :(( |
Well, thank you guys!
I just moved the C. devonianum to a brighter place, it has 2-3 hours of sun at morning and then in the afternoon it takes 1-2 more hours.I hope it'll start growing again, I might not get flowers, but at least it will survive which is what counts after all. Thanks :) |
I just looked this up on IOSPE PHOTOS
- it does say that it "needs a semi rest from water and fertilizer in the winter to insure proper blooming" |
Thanks for the info.!!
Anyway, I think this plant has had very little water during winter since it is very cold in my town in that period. I really appreciate your help :) |
