Dend. kiki rmoval question
3 Attachment(s)
I have been keeping an eye on this kiki since it started. I need to know is it ready to come off. Also I need to know how to get it off the mother plant, if I have to kill the mother plant that shouldn't be a problem. I don't think the mother plant is going to make it. I don't know what went wrong other then I may have over potted but, the other two Dends. are in the same size and are blooming and spiking. I have never taken a kiki off of a cane and I must admit I am very nervous. Thanks for all help and encouragement!!

just bite the bullet and snap it off!
Give it a little twist first and it should come right off, if not then use a sterile knife to finish the job. |
Are you saying just snap the kiki off the mother plant's stem. Will it acturally snap off even with a twist!!??!!

Make sure you grip the stalk at the veeeeery bottom! Grab right above the roots, and twist back and forth until you can spin it right around and it comes off. If you don't grab low, it might snap elsewhere. Apply cinammon to open wounds.

OK, I will try it later this afternoon and let you know. Cinammon....huh :hmm I will make sure I do that. Thanks so much for the info.

Well, I did like you said and with a little effort it came off. I sprinkled a nice amount of cinnamon on the roots and the area that was attached to mother. So, I now have a really pretty little plant. I looked at the mother's roots and there wasn't much for roots. They didn't look too bad but, I could see they weren't real healthy and not many of them. Thanks you guys for helping me out.:bananaslide:
