how long the cattleya flower last normally?

I am a beginner for cattelya orchid .I had my first cattleya bloomed and I posted the picture on this board.check the link below. The 3 flowers last about 2 weeks only and it started to wilt today.
Since the flowers opened , I put a pebble tray with water under the pot to increase the humidity and it was indoor with no direct sun light . I misted the leaves once a day.The temperature in the room is around 74 to 77.
I was just wondering how long the flower normally last? I read somewhere it last about 3 weeks and I would like to know other peoples experience with your cattleya flower.

OMG! That is a GORGEOUS orchid! Where did you get it?! Anywho, my catts blooms usually last 2-3 weeks (sucks, i know), but it's better than nothing. Awesome blooms! :)

You seem to have done everything right to prolong blooms. If using air-conditioning, dry air might be the culprit. Hopefully, someone with the same orchid will share their experience.

It can depend on the cross, too. Some species can last a fairly long time, while others will fade sooner.

I got it from Akatsuka Orchid Gardens, hawaii.

Beaut you have there!

To answer your question, there are many variables for how long blooms last. Heat being one factor, as well as humidity.

I have some the have blooms that last weeks in the winter, but hardly a week in the summer. Moving them inside can sometimes be good or bad. But you using a humidity tray prolly helped prolong their life.

I try handle them as little as possible, maybe put them in a more shadier area in my green house. I also find that staking a sheath before it blooms helps too.

But for me, the green catts last no longer the a few weeks.
