Onc Ornithorhynchum spikes

Hi,
Guess what's popped up over the last couple of days? Two spikes on my little Onc :) I bought this when it was a baby and, to be honest, I thought that it was still too small for spikes this year and was holding out for next year. Clearly I was wrong and now I have two spikes to watch grow over the coming weeks. This my only Oncidium so I'm quite excited!

Your plant is very nicely grown. It will put on a good show once it starts blooming. Post a picture when the flowers open.

Congratulations! I am looking forward to seeing the blooms.

Jennyfleur, it that a Ficus religiosa behind the Oncidium? I am growing some form seed along with Ficus bengalensis (that seems more vigorous and faster growing). Anyway I have the same Oncidium, similar size or a tad smaller. Hope it blooms. My Onc Twinkle just rebloomed but a lot less flowers than last year and shorter spikes. wondering why. But been craving the O ornithorynchum for long. Happy with the one IO got from Oakhill

What a wonderful thought. Unfortunately, however, it's not as exotic as that! When possible, I take my chids outside into the garden to photograph and, for this one, I used one of the lilac trees :)
