Trying to see how the photo uploading works.
Mexipedium xerophyticum

Okay, that works, but it is kinda a pain - I have to upload it to the gallery, and then open a new window, and copy and paste it, and upload it again. Is there any way to just upload it once?

Am I missing something here? Confused, sorry!

The way you did it was the easiest. You didn't need to upload it to the gallery if you're attaching it here as an attachment. Either one or the other

Just to show you, if you already have a picture in the gallery then place the address to the photo by putting it between [img] [/img] tags.

YOur gallery link is http://www.orchidboard.com/community.../500/mexi1.jpg

now if you put that address between the [img] tags you'll get a pic like so:

Heather, what is your culture for this beauty?

Heather 06-03-2006 10:26 AM

Culture:

I pretty much grow it as instructed by Marilyn LeDoux (from whom it came - Windy Hill Gardens - I know you are familiar with Ms. Marilyn - one of my favorite vendors) Anyway, this plant comes from Oaxaca, so I try to emulate the natural environment. It gets a lot of sun, and I let it dry out pretty much during the winter months. I water it with my Paphs, generally once a week, even though it is more closely related to Phrags. Then, in the summer, I up the watering to twice a week.
I also try to mist it daily, apparently the dew in its' native habitat is quite copious, and misting helps it feel at home.

It is in the same pot it came in from Marilyn, in her mix which is a fine bark mix with charcoal and perlite. There is some sheet moss on top to keep the moisture in. I haven't gotten up the nerve to repot it. Mexipediums are stoloniferous plants and send out lots of runners, making it a tricky little bitch to repot (so I've heard.) I need to deal with that after it blooms this time though. I would like to put it in a nice bonsai pot.
