cymbidium problems

I have a cymbidum plant and it is starting to look a little sad.

Right now it is located in a south facing window (I only have North and South facing windows) and I am watering it when it gets dry.

Does anyone have any ideas to help my plant out?

Thanks!

Do you have pics? It makes it easier to figure out what's going on.

Other info like day/night and seasonal temperatures help too.

I don't allow my cyms to dry out.

Is it possible to grow yours outdoors during warm enough weather - they like a fair amount of sun.

pix are helpful :)

I'm not that familiar with Cyms. but pics would help alot to figure out your problem otherwise it sounds like your not getting a good culture match:) Good luck:)

DLKC,

Until we see a photo and can home in on a specific problem, get the plant outside (assuming all danger of frost is gone in your area) in morning sun/afternoon shade or (50/50 sun) and thoroughly water it, leaves and all, (with the water running out the bottom holes) BEFORE it dries out.

It would also help to know in what area of the world you live as to climatic zone.

Ok. Here is the info.

I live in Langley, BC, CANADA (Near Vancouver)
I keep it in a very sunny window that receives some direct sunlight in the afternoon.
I try to water the plant when it dries out...but I guess I need to keep it moist?

I have attached two photos!

Thanks again!

doesn't look bad to me ? but it could probably use more light - outside is really best for cyms - til there's threat of frost

a south window is probably good for winter, but this time of year it's fairly comparable to a north window - more bright shade than anything

definitely water before the media has dried out - cyms do like their water in the summer, as well as fertilizer

I definitely defer to cym ladye's cymbidium knowledge, so definitely go with her advice!

Cyms really do prefer to be outdoors for the summer. Give it as much light as possible without burning and feed it well. They don't like to dry out completely, especially during summer when in growth. Let it feel the changing of the seasons, the cool nights in the fall help it to come in to bloom. Leave it out untill near the end of October, but protect it from frost.
