Questions about orchids with pendant flowers
Which species of orchids have variety with pendant flowers?
For the moment i see only some variety of Dendrobium. Which variety develop the more longer pendant flowers? Note: I have even found that this type of plants are even in the best position to be put in the basket. |
I think there are quite a few. What comes to mind just now is that some types of Cymbidium are pendant. Also orchids like Catasetum tend to grow spikes out the bottom of the medium (hope I've remember right for which ones do that).

Stanhopeas are mostly pendant; though if grown in a pot sometimes the spike gets forced upwards. Not a good idea to do this as they can get trapped within the pot.

I think it was Stanhopeas I was thinking of rather than Catasetum. I often confuse those two.

Prosthechea citrina always seems to have its flowers pointing downwards in the pictures I see.

Eurychone rothschildiana is pendant
Gongoras do it pendant with exceptions. |
Gorgora [quite long], Dracula, Dendrochilum to some extent, some Masdevallias (e.g., zahlbruckneri), Notylia [very long], Zygostates, Lockhartia if you mount the plant, Aerangis [also very long], Mystacidium, Chilochista, some Bulbophyllum (e.g. longissimum). That's just what I'm growing, I bet there are more.
