What kind of orchid is this? Also keiki question!
2 Attachment(s)
About to take two large keikis off this orchid which belongs to my mom but its a NOID. I think its a dendrobium but I am not sure. The flowers are about a the size of a quarter. If it is a dendrobium any advice as I have not grown this type before. Also, never removed or potted a keiki so any advice on that would be great also!
Thanks! |
thats a reed stem epidendrum. its in the cattleya alliance. high-light. let it dry fast but be watered often ( make sense? )

I agree with Help, it's a reed stem epidendrum.

Absolutely. An epidendrum.

Yes, as everyone else has said, an epidendrum and a very pretty one at that. Normally very hardy, you'd have to kill them with a brick!

Treat keiki's like you would regular plants. Cut it off from the mother with a sterilized tool and use a dash of cinnamon on the wounds to help prevent infections or diseases.
When planting a keiki, be sure to be gentle with the roots as it won't generally have as many as a mature one will. Good luck, and pretty flowers! |
