Another 2 more phal spikes
 

Hi again OB,

I've been looking at some of my orchids over the past few days and have noticed what i would say are 2 new spikes and they are pointed at the end with the "mitten" shape.

I've moved my phals closer to my south facing window with good results and feeding with dyna gro orchid pro 7,8,6 recommended by Peter White of Peter White Orchids UK, it seems to be doing the job.

awesome! I think that second one might be a root - tho I've been known to be wrong ;)
good growing either way!

Second one does appear a more root like in shape, but tough to tell this early. Good Luck!

I'll have a friendly bet with you on the second phal, it's a spike :-)

From the position it's growing and the shape it's a spike, i can get a better view when i look close, roots tend to be bullet shaped and more blunt at the tip this has the "mitten"

Well your description sounds like a spike to me, but the pic looks a little more rounded. But, I'll be happy to be wrong, sure you will too.

Yes i will be the first to eat a big slice of humble pie if i'm wrong. Ha-ha

There is no doubt in my mind now the second phal is a spike, i'll post some pics soon. i ordered some orchid clips from easy orchids to clip the spikes to a cane, the type that look like little hair grips :-)

I think it's far easier to tell in person (rather than a pic) even at a really early stage, especially once you've seen a few and know what you are looking at.

I would guess spike on both from the pictures. Congratulations, your phals are really loving you just now :cheer:
