Neostylis Lou Sneary

Neostylis Lou Sneary is Neofenitia falcata x Rhynchostylis coelestis, and is generally lavender. My plant has Rhyn. coestis 'alba' as a parent, and is essentially white with a bit of purple blush. A nice, compact plant that blooms throughout the warm weather here, and tends toward multiple growths.

is that a wire basket you're growing in?
Neostylis Lou Sneary is one of our favorites ... the clone 'Colorful Blue' is in the attached photo. |
...and the wish-list gets longer! :yikes:

'Colorful Blue' is a lovely color! Plants are growing on slices of wood. The wire: to keep the miniatures kind of together, so I could 'keep an eye on them' - I made a cylinder out of about a 3' length of 1/2" mesh wire - suspended by a fishing swivel. All the little guys hang on it. Handy for watering (hose it off really hard, and the whole thing spins; I'm sure the plants enjoy it), and to adjust for best lighting. Keeps good air flow, too. One of my friends had a good idea, too, when someone gave her some wood-framed wire greenhouse shelving: she hung one of the shelves from an edge with a couple of 's' hooks, from a tree branch. Plants hang on both sides; same benefits of light, air, and watering convenience. Smart girl! Maximum use of minimum space. Regards - Nancy |
Hi, Nancy. Does your plant have fragrant flowers? If so, which species does the fragrance most resemble? I have both a Neofinetia falcata and a Rhynchostylis coelestis, but the Rhyncho' (although, according to everything I've read is supposedly very fragrant) has only a very light scent to my nose, especially compared to the heavily-fragrant Neo'. Very pretty flowers your plant has. I actually like the white ones better than the more typically-grown blue-flowered variety.

Beautiful blooms!
I'm just waiting for mine to bloom, and I hope for blue! |
Beautiful flowers Nancy and Cneos! Somewhat dissapointing news about the fragrance. I had read that it was a very fragrant plant. Blue Moon is supposed to be one of the most fragrant Lou Sneary clones and was near the top of my wishlist. Maybe I'll still try to find it anyways.
