Can't take any credit for the blooms -- bought it in bud. Hopefully I won't kill it like I did the last one. Nice fragrance.

Looks great! :) I also got one of these in bloom last week, and I love love the fragrance! I think it smells like oriental lilies. A question for you. On my plant the leaves are firm but the upper side of the leaves has what I could best discribe as a leathery appearance. Are yours like that?

I have one of these too. It's in bloom right now and throwing out a new leaf and roots. The leaves are indeed somewhat leathery, but smooth, not unlike the surface of phal. leaves. If they are "wrinkly" or "grooved" there may be a problem (likely humidity related). I don't find them that easy to grow.

Re: A. fastuosa . . .

I have (3) of these. One of them bloomed for me. I was very surprised at the small size of the flower itself. I guess I was expecting a much larger-flowered Aerangis.

Are you sure that we're talking about the same orchid? Aer. fastuosa's blooms are quite big in relation to the rest of the plant, about half the size of the leaves.

Re: Aerangis fastuosa ..

Yepper ... I got the plant in spike from Orchids Limited in Minnesota, and was shocked at the size of the flowers.
The tag clearly states "Aerangis fastuosa"....

camille1585 03-27-2011 01:20 PM

LoL, funny, because I was shocked too....by how large they were! I thought that they were going to be smaller than that.

I suspect mine needs to be watered more frequently, Camille, but I'm afraid of overwatering. We'll see how it goes.

Like you, Camille, I would have to say the flowers are actually very large for such a small plant. I have seen a number of orchids that are far larger that don't even have flowers this big. :)

Well, to be honest, I was very disappointed in the entire plant. leaves were limp (and still are) and the plant is mounted with nothing more than a few fibers of what appears to me to be coconut coir strands, so I keep thinking the plant is horribly dehydrated since the leaves are wrinkled and limp and just will not "stiffen up".......:(
