Stenoglottis (Saturn 'Electric' x Stenoglottis woodii) - blooms

Our Stenoglottis hybrid (Saturn 'Electric' x Stenoglottis woodii) has just started blooming. We have 3 spikes on the plant at the moment and the lowermost flowers are opening. As far as I know, it's an Unregistered Grex.

The whole plant is great with fantastic rosettes of spotty leaves. And the flowers top it off nicely :)

Yeah, the purple blotches on Stenoglottis leaves are beautiful.

This group is easy to neglect because of the individual flower size. As a whole entire plant, they are quite attractive.

They usually take the back seat to Disas, but they're worth cultivating. They're also easier to find in cultivation than many of the Disas are, here in the US. Plus they're easier to grow than Disas.

They're terrestrials btw.

Beautiful. "Discus", may I request a photo of the entire plant be posted up on the OB?

oh wow! that's beautiful!

Surprised how well the fimbriata spots hold on in the hybrids. Are the leaves just as spotted as the bracts? It's a very pretty flower. I'm not sure what woodii has brought to the mix; maybe it's neatened up the lateral lobes on the labellum?

I love that even the bracts are spotted! Beautiful inflorescence and great photography!

I second King's request. Can you post a picture of the entire plant please?

Discus 03-16-2011 05:14 AM

Will see what I can do this evening re: the whole plant :)

Yes, the leaves are very spotty.

And so far, this is a very easy plant - Disa have proven somewhat challenging!
