Blc. Mount Hood 'Mary'
I lost the tag but I think this is Blc. Mount Hood 'Mary'. It's a classic large cattleya, over 7" across. I believe it's my largest catt. A little fragrance also.

Certainly looks like it.
Mine just finished blooming and it was by far one of the largest cattleya flowers I have ever seen. The fragrance became stronger as the bloom aged as well. Just stunning! |
These are really gorgeous blooms!

I thought that Mount Hood 'Mary' had at least a pinhole sized purple dot on the lip.

However, the "award" picture that comes up on Orchid Wiz has the purple dots on the lip. Interestingly, it is still described as "pure white". One of the three pictures in the photo gallery on Orchid Wiz is as described while the other two have purple coloring on the terminal lip. Mine is an original division and has no purple on the terminal lip (pics below ;)) I do not know if this would be a variation that one would see in a mericlone or if an original division can show such a change based on growing conditions. I am hoping to get two blooms next year instead of the one I had....but to be sure it is a stunner of a bloom  ADDED NOTE: In looking at my pics, I can see how the throat is "green" and sort of blending into yellow. The throats in the blooms of the photo above don't appear to have any green in them and are more bright canary yellow like a Ranger Six "A-OK". I am going to do a bit more "flipping" through some pics :blushing: |
Okay, I'm gonna back pedal and go with Blc. Ranger Six "A-OK".
After some more flipping, it really does look most like this plant. Anyone else have any thoughts? |
