First online purchase, officially started a collection.
 

Hey guys, sorry to be putting this off a week later , but my first order came in last week! I got 8 new orchids, to officially start off a more proper collection. I ordered from Olympic Orchids, as they are super cheap, and the plants are still small. I was very happy with some of the plants, and others i was very dissapointed, but the lady is replacing them. My order consisted of the following: Aerangis Modesta, Phal Parishii, Phal Schilleriana, Doritis pulcherrima var. chomperensis, Vanda tricolor var. suavis (ended up getting 2 in the same pot!), Paph Lawrenceanum (Which came in horrific condition! So the lady sent a paph wardii as a replacement for it without e mailing me:((:((, epidendrum elongatum (one half of the plant looks good the other looks frozen), phal Bastianii (free plant). And the aerangis, Phal parishii are getting replaced because they had crushed roots and all the top of the roots have rot started, and she is replacing the Paph lawrenceanum with a neofinetia. And I am positive that I can save the aerangis and Parishii, because they still have a couple good roots, and they might have gotten frozen because it looks like there is some cell damage, but they look fine other than that. So, now for picture explanations!
1,2,and3) The aerangis modesta, unpotted from being in a pot that was truly overstuffed with spagnum
4, and5) The Paph lawrenceanum (it turned to have crown rot, i think, because the base was squishy, and the 2 leaves just basically pulled apart. And I was really bummed about this because the parents were both HCC/AOS awarded:((
6) the Phal Parishii, before i re mounted it and put it upside down so i could check out the roots and so I can prevent crowwn rot.
7)The Phal Bastianii, I mounted after the pc so will show that soon.
8 and 9) The Paph Wardii, no rotted roots, but only has three of them. Any tips on this one? It's my first Paph!

Oh, and if anyone has any care info on the Aerangis, I would really love to hear about, I havent been able to find much on them.

Bastianii would have been only 7 bucks and the Vanda was only 6! If some of the plants were potted with a little more care it would have been spectacular, but I am still happy! Thanks Alsorchids! I can give you the link if you would like it.....

According to OrchidWiz Aerangis modesta needs 1,000-2,000 foot candles of light, strong air movement at all times, intermediate temps. If mounted RH should be at 75-80%.

So, light of a phal with high humidity? Thank you for looking that up!:bowing

Some of those Phals are really small, I wonder if mounting them is the best option. You may have to keep the humidity high. The Vanda tricolor looks like it has nice roots.

I thank you for the referral Michael, but right now between work, house projects, and the orchids I have I swore to myself not to buy more. I will hold to that. AL
