Superthrive on orchids.
As anyone used the superthrive for foliar feeding on orchids and what was there results?

I've used superthrive but never foliar fed. What type of orchids are you thinking of feeding this way?

Superthrive isn't really a fertilizer, but a "supplement" with hormones and vitamins.
I apply most everything, including "Superthrive" to the leaves because of how I grow. My orchids hang outdoors, and when I water, feed, treat with pesticides or fungicides, or supplement, everything gets wet. I've never been as worried as some about getting leaves wet, especially early in the day. They get rained on on a daily basis during summer, so water has just not been a big concern. When I started using Superthrive, they seemed to appreciate it, but it's really hard to be quantitative, because everybody got treated. Did they really respond to Superthrive or did they respond to good growing weather? Who knows, but I do it now every few months - just couple of drops per gallon along with fertilizer. |
Like Bob, my orchids get drenched when I'm fertilizing. I used Superthrive for several years but I couldn't tell you if it was doing anything or not. For what it's worth I know some commercial growers who use it and I doubt that they would spend the money unless they believed it works. They fertilize with overhead spray systems the drench the leaves also.

I wanted to use it for Cattleyas and add some to my ultrasonic fogger in my terrarium where I while grow them.
