How to post pics of my orchids, help!
I was "adding my orchids", you know putting the info about them in and I clicked "add photo" and I browse to find the one I want to add, and it is not letting me. The photos are JPEG and all under 2MB, so they fit the qualifications, but it is not uploading them. How can I fix this?
Also, Is there another place to post pics besides under "my orchids"? Thanks!!:waving |
Sometimes it doesn't seem to work right. Have you tried linking to Flickr? By the way: Does anyone know how to imbed the FLickr images into the post (as opposed to a link)???

I always downsize mine using Microsoft picture manager. Even though the site says it will take any size, I had problems until I did this. I use the 640 X 480 size with no problem.
I also "lost" pictures unless I used the "My Albums" area. From memory (hope it's correct): I set up a "new album" and go to it. When you go to upload, there will be an area where you can browse to the photos you want to upload. When you think you are finished, there is a button on the bottom that says something like "process this list". When THAT finishes is when you have actually uploaded (I missed that last step several times). In a post, you can just copy and paste the thumbnail (from the text below the picture when you are in the "My Albums" section, and the thumbnail (not the text) will show up in the post. There is a thread with good directions somewhere here. |
I think you are talking about the Orchid Collection Database. I've noticed that pictures of 2Mb don't seem to work. I've found if they are arround 1Mb or just a bit bigger they work fine.
You can also put pictures in your gallery, or if you want to include them in posts you can use an external photo site like Flickr and post links to the photos. |
Isn't there away to embed the flikr pictures so there is no link. I think Mauro (Rosmin) does it all the time.

If you use Flickr then on flickr site there is a 'Share This' option against each photo. Choose that then choose 'Grab the HTML/BB Code'.
Make sure you then choose the BB Code option. This is really important for posting on OB. Choose the size you want. When you have chosen both the BB Code and the size you want, copy everything in the box and paste it into your message. The result will be a picture which when clicked on will go to the Flickr site and below that a link which also goes to the Flickr site. Hope that helps :) |
Can you use Picasa the same way?
|
Yes and no. In Picasa they don't make it easy for you and don't tell you what the link needs to be.
I managed to explain to Bob (Help) how to do it, but it's a lot of steps and you need to be quite computer literate. Here's a link to my explanaition to Bob. If the long list of steps don't put you off then give it a try over on that thread. http://www.orchidboard.com/community...tml#post366648 |
