Aerangis clavigera?
2 Attachment(s)
This one just started flowering for the first time. The flowers start opening from the apex of the inflorescense. I bought it as Aerangis clavigera, but am not sure. This is a quick photo: I will post a better picture when I have time.
The petals are quite translucent and green at the tips of the petals as well as on the tip of the spur. Attached another picture of the plant, which has rather unusual leaves for Aerangis. Any help in identifying would be appreciated. Could maybe be A verdickii or kotschyana? Lars |
I'm sorry I can't help with the ID but those are beautiful blooms.

All of the pictures I've seen of Aerangis clavigera show the flowers "right-side up" as opposed to yours which look "upside down" (can't think of the real name for this at the moment). Also I read somewhere that clavigera/ macrocentra did not have bilobed leaves. They were pointed on the ends.
Hopefully this is helpful |
Definitely not aer. kotschyana, and doesn't look like clavigera either. The leaves look like aer. spiculata, although the flowers look a bit different.

I have a few more pictures: maybe these help
|
Wow I have no idea - the leaves are very similar to aer. spiculata, stylosa, or even aer. verdickii...but the flowers don't look like any of those. A hybrid, perhaps? Where did you get this plant?
By the way, it's gorgeous. |

The plant is originally from White Oak Orchids and have written to them, but I have not yet had a reply. And yes, it is absolutely gorgeous. |
I love these! they have and angelic quality to them! I hope you find out what it is soon!

My first instinct was to say macrocentra. Will edit after I look through Stewart's book in a second.
Instincts are wayyyyyyyy off! I was thinking mooreana. However, again the leaves don't match the flower. There is an old clavigera from Hillerman at work and looks nothing like that. Closer to spiculata foliage with complete margins unlike the rovolute ones on spiculata. |
