Bulb Dentriferum "emly" starting a flower spike

I'm finally delurking with a question about my Bulb Den. The name "emly" is the spelling on the tag, from the dealer at the show. This is my Den's first attempt at blooming since I brought it home 6 months ago and I'm looking for some assistance. It's in a 4 inch pot, in bark. Since it's starting a spike I'm thinking it likes it's location (combination of 8-12 hours daily of indirect sunlight/table lamp) and it's watering routine (daily misting, pebble tray and a weekly soak). The room temp is slightly cool, mayby 68f and faces south.

The spike is now 3 weeks old and 2.5-3 cm in length with a nice sized bud. Today I noticed the spike is changing from a healthy green to a pale brown and I have no idea if this is normal for this Den or if the spike is failing.

Once I find my usb cable I'll attach a pic. I haven't found much on this stage during my web searches so I would most definately appreciate some advice

Thanks, Maddie

Does it look dry? I don't think pale brown is normal.

I don't think it need misting, a good soaking when dry put a bamboo stick in it and use like a cake tester, only water when stick is dry. Brown is not good, should remain green while blooming. Check roots.

Bulbophyllum like things a bit moist but misting doesn't accomplish that end. In fact, the misting may have caused the flower to turn brown. Of course, without pictures this is anyone's guess. Depending on the humidity in your home, I'd water more frequently and feed with a weak solution of food every time you water. While 68 F is ok, Bulbos as a group like warm temps. This link may be of some help.
