Sabal Palm Boots
1 Attachment(s)
I was at a friends and they had debooted a large Sabal palm last year. I took home about 20 of the boots. I have mounted orchids, platyceriums and bromeliads to them.
Here is a L. anceps 'Orchidheights' that is just now really starting to attach. It has just finished blooming. Attachment 52431 |
That looks like a great mount!

Good idea!, lots of palms around here, this would have been good in our Florida forum, since its our native tree. I mount a lot and I'm always looking for something to mount on, and I've been looking right a palm, the minute I open the blinds.

Thanks for the post!!
I've been :scratchhead: which palm boot to use. I saw one done last month with 2 or 3 boots wired together and used as a hanging basket...really cool! Now to get some new Boots.. I will probably have to plant a new tree to put one of those  Just remembered a friend has a HUGE Live Oak. I'll put one there  |
The palm boots are in a way sort of stringy, internally. The roots of the orchid seem to really like the surface. They attach themselves and aren't sticking out in the air looking for something more preferable to attach to. I know they don't degrade quickly like say, fern board.
I would say look at yard guys. They are always cleaning palms in my area. They just throw them away. You could use any kind palm boot. |
