Pot or mount for Aerangis citrata?

I just got an Aerangis citrata (in spike :) ) today. It's potted in sphag (which I changed since it potted a bit too tightly for my conditions).

Does this plant do better mounted or potted? I have a spare mount ready for it if that's better. If it stays potted, what's a good medium for it? I'm new to angracoids (and my other one - Aerangis rhodostica- is mounted) so I'd love all the advice you can give!

I tend to mount all of my Aerangis species. I have read that pot culture was suggested for this one thought because it has finer roots than many others. If you can provide enough humidity for it, I'd say mount it. If you do that though I would place a small amount of sphagnum moss under the roots. Don't place it over them because many Angraecoids are touchy about this. The moss under will provide a little more moisture and allow the roots to grow into it if they want.

I was surprised by how thin the roots are. My other one has really fat roots.
For now I'd have trouble keeping high humidity for it since I'm a windowsill grower. I want to get a terrarium for my moisture loving minis, but since I'm planning on moving within a year I'll only be getting it afterwards.

So I think it'll stay potted until then. What sort of medium should I put it in?

Hmm... I grow all of my Angs mounted except some of the larger plants or plants that a grower gave me duplicates of to help him experiment with media. Those are kept in LECA but not grown exactly semi-hydro. I water almost everyday and the LECA provides the humidity and air movement these plants need.

I hope this helps. Maybe someone who has grown this in a pot successfully will be able to help out as well.
