Acronia (Pleurothallis) penelops
Photographed at Ecuagenera's main (cooler-growing) nursery in Gualaceo, Ecuador (near Cuenca).
The sheer number of Pleurothallis metagenus species is daunting. What's more, most photos show only the blooms. I've been frustrated in both directions - huge plants and dinky plants. I'm trying to shoot some perspective shots to go with the flower pics. They're not quite as aesthetically pleasing, but I think they do the job. http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5284/...04697d0f57.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5050/...fa93461155.jpg http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5050/...68bd1c8228.jpg |
Wow, glad you posted that plant shot. I would never have guessed what the whole plant looked like from those flowers.
It's quite an unusual one with those long curved leaves with the flowers coming from them. Really cool. |

I agree, it would make a great house plant regardless of the flowers. It looks like it would be heavy at that size!

Flower close-ups are great and all. But I like to get the big picture, The whole package. Thanks

I just found a whole bench of seedlings of this species in bloom. I'm really wishing I had a greenhouse!
