Most likely a spike.

Looks more like a root to me... You should be able to tell within a few days.

I reckon spike. There are some lines on it when I click to get the bigger version, which make me think it's not a root, and I don't think it's a new plant.

I know what you mean, that bulge at the end.

Hmm not sure, although I would still vote spike.

I'll vote for a spike, the bulge is lots of flowers. Patience is now the game. What is the name of your vanda? Have you had it a long time?

:)
I do not know the name... a noid red ascocenda...
I have it since this summer :D

I am looking at it for more than 3 weeks now and the longer I look, the more I think it is a new plant...

I have more ascocendas and the spike always looked like the one in the upper picture... and the spike in the second picture is one week younger than the first one, so it is developing very slow...

From the photo it looks like a keiki. Is it growing near the top or closer to the bottom of the plant? Lower growths are often keikis, but not always. It looks very healthy whatever it is.

Definitely a spike. Don't forget to post :pics: when it blooms. Can't wait. love all things Vandaceous
