Baby Dendrobium in a Mini Terrarium
 

Is this a bad idea? My gut tells me that the detriments of a general lack of air circulation will far outweigh the benefits of 80%+ humidity, but I'd like to hear that from someone who knows what they're talking about (the plant is a dendrobium tetragonum).

I use "mini terrariums" every once in a while to increase humidity on certain plants. Since you really can't add a fan, I remove the top a couple of times a week for about an hour or so. I have not had a mold problem yet and the plants have done wonderfully.

Any particular reason you have it in there anyways? Den tetragonum does not need extremely high humidity, and being potted I would think it would manage fine under average humidity conditions. Humidity is more of an issue for mounted plants.

no particular reason (mainly because it's the only one i have that's small enough to fit and i wanted to play w/ my new toy :))

This worries me, but I am sure I am not qualified to answer this, lol. Air Circulation and stagnant air that could cause mold or rot comes to mind when I see this. What do you think about this? Have you noticed any improvement since you started putting this cover over it?

haven't seen marked improvement, but i haven't been leaving it on there either.
