baby steps...

hello.. never used a forum before so i`m a tad lost. I live in northern canada (zone 3b i think). Its just before xmas and we have a foot of snow and its about -15C at night. needless to say, my orchids are all house plants. I have 4 phalaenopsis and 1 dendrobium still in their aweful plastic pots. I also have a large potted cymbidium... which i regret to say, i take very poor care of. it hasnt flowered in almost 2 years. I came on board because my other orchids are all dividing, growing baby plants and are practically crawling out of their pots. i need to do something with them and i`m terrified to try. So i`m here to research and get over my fears.

Welcome. The people here are very friendly and helpful. Ask away and I am sure they can help. Pictures always help them be more accurate. Sounds like a major repot coming up. You will do fine.

Welcome to Orchid Board :welcomeflowers:

As Jonada has already said, everyone here is really friendly so just dive in and ask any questions, don't worry about being a beginner (either with the forums or with Orchids) as no-one will mind.

If you need any help posting pictures (which as Jonada said are always helpful for people to understand your question) then take a look at the info on this link.

:hello

I totally understand, this was my first forum too! (and I'm still finding new parts to explore!). I think most of us are/ were nervous when we re-pot one for the first time. I'll sure you'll find lots of info and help on here if you need it - good luck :)

:welcomeflowers:

Lots of friendly helpful people here - so don't be afraid to ask questions. I, too, was nervous about my first orchid repot - fortunately I have a neighbor who grows orchids, and she did my first for me while I watched, and I learned it's not really a big deal. Tho cyms especially can take some time and be a bit of a job ... Take your time and relax - I find it to be relaxing if I can just take my time. And remember, you don't have to do them all at once ...
