What is your favorite Orchid?

What is your favorite orchid you have or want and why?

That is a very tough question to answer! Several come to mind and I think in all instances its the reliability of flowering. My Phrag Normont is like clockwork. Starts blooming in late fall and continues up to the beginning of spring. C Angel Bells and C Bactia also give me reliable - and fragrant - flowers.

All three are easy for me to grow. An added plus!

Hard question!!!!!! my answer WILL change....

its a toss up between L. anceps and Masdie. Angel Fling. neither of which i have successfully bloomed (yet ) but they both are troopers and grow so nicely

This is really a tough question - well, there are so many phals out there I would really like to have. :blushing:

But there is one plant I've always admired on exhibitions and such: Phrag. besseae! I love it! Right now I can't give it the right growing conditions, but I know one day I'm going to buy one. The color is vibrant and it looks so elegant.

Although I'm partial to the Catt alliance, the orchid that gives me the most pleasure overall is my Cycnoches warscewiczii. It blooms regularly no matter how I treat it, and, for the three weeks, or so when it's in bloom, fills my house with the most amazing fragrance.

For now I would have to say Cattleya x gravesiana alba 'Snow Queen' FCC/AOS. Its endearing qualities are large full flowers, strong but not overpowering fragrance, ease of culture (not finicky about temperature at all), can bloom more than once a year, and an important piece of orchid history.

Masdevallia 'Machu Pichu'- it's put out a few blooms for me and has a spike. It is cute, and the color of the blooms is a beautiful intense magenta.
It's my favorite... for now, that is.

Sophronitis coccinea or Dendrobium cuthbertsonii

Often my favorite is the one that is blooming. Carol
