Commercial growers ,,,do they use less light...
Hi,
I just got my shipment in from Kawamoto Orchids,,and they are amazing,,,got 3 Catts and 2 Dends. A couple in bloom. I notice that the leaves on all the plants are pretty dark green. Where I am use to my Catts and Dends being pretty bright green. Do commercial groweres grow under a lower light? If so, is it ecause they have so many species that they stay in the middle of all? I have gotten plants from other places and they were darker also. Thanks |
I wonder if what your seeing might be due to differences in nutrition, and not the light level to which they're been exposed.
"Bight green" vegetation tends to result from the excessive application of nitrogen. |
I'm also guessing it's from nutrition. The orchids at commercial growers get plenty of light in the greenhouses, both natural and artificial. They also get fed much more and more often than our plants, in part because the ideal climatic conditions in the greenhouse allow it, and also because they want the plants growing and blooming as fast as possible.
