Hi everyone!
This site is full of great advice, I LOVE this site and my 'chids have been more happy since I've joined!

I would like your opinion... :scratchhead:
What are your favorite orchid books and why?

I'm looking for books that are more "helpful" rather than "coffee table picture book."

Ok, these are the books I find I use the most with my orchids.

Orchid Species Culture- Oncidium/Odontoglossum Alliance by, Margaret L. Baker & Charles O. Baker.

Asymbiotic Technique of Orchid Seed Germination by, Aaron J. Hicks.

The Cattleyas and their Relatives Vol 1-3 by, Carl L. Withner.

My favourit books are (of course) relatade with my favourite orchids:

"The Astonishing Stanhopeas The Upside-down Orchids"
Barney Greer, 1998

"The Genus Stanhopea", Rudolf Jenny, Caesiana (Italy), 2004 (orchidology, technical and expensive, superb!)

A great basic book is Ortho's All About Orchids.
It has all the answers to the basic questions regarding pests and disease...with pictures :)

Oh, yeah, my "bible" is Miniature Orchids by Rebecca Tyson Northern

Miniature Orchids is a great book, one of my favourites too. Home Orchid Growing by the same author is pretty comprehensive, a bit expensive, but probably the book I reach for the most.

Botanica's Pocket Orchids is a nice book if you want something with a little bit about lots of different orchids. Doesn't go into much depth but basic info for over a thousand orchid species.

My favourite book devoted to a specific type of orchid is Angraecoid Orchids by Joyce Stewart, Hermans, and Campbell. Again I'd prefer more detailed cultural information but lots of great pictures and basic scientific descriptions, plus a really nice intro chapter.
