My first mount

So this is my first attempt at mounting an orchid, and I just wanted some input as to whether or not I did this right.

I was planning on hanging it, so it would hang like the first to pics. But it kind of looks nice sitting there, like the last pic. What do you think?

Looks good to me, although I've not mounted any myself I grow a couple that I bought mounted.

I mostly hang mine, although I have one flowering and it's easier to see the flowers just sitting it on the windowledge so it varies how it sits, it will probably hang again once it's finished flowering.

what type of plant is it? be sure to chek if it likes its crown up or down. but its probably not supposed to be sideways like in the last pic

looks good though

It is a Haraella Retrocalla. So should I redo it, so the crown is pointing up, instead or sideways or down? I just didn't think it would hurt anything if it was sideways, but I can always take it apart and redo it.

It looks good. I've never seen a Haraella upside down or sideways, but just see how it does, you can always move it later.

I remounted him. He is still kind of sideways, but that is because I am still unsure how I want to display him, hanging (you can see my drill hole on the left), or sitting on his side, like in the pic.

I have also just remounted my Aerangis Biloba. I hated the wood plank it was mounted on.

Not sure yet, just got him because I knew I was going to be setting this up, and it was perfect for the conditions I was going for.

you could always just push the wood into the rocks a tiny bit and prop it up, if you want to.

i wanted to get a haraella, but the only ones they had at the show were $40!

I got mine from Oak Hill. I think it was $15, but the shipping was kind of high, so I made it worth the price, by getting a second plant. 2nd one was an incredibly HUGE Stanhopea for $20!! I was shocked by the size, it was awesome!!
