What's the difference...
Just picked up a Psycopsis papilio and an Oncidium papilio. Is there a difference between these two. the Psycopsis has variegated looking leaves where the oncidium has light green leaves. Looked both up online and the flowers don't look too different. Can someone shed some light for me. Thank you!!!

Psychopsis papilio
( Psychopsis Orchid ) An epiphytic orchid, with one elliptic leaf, (5 to 10 inches) and a spherical pseudobulb. Four foot jointed racemes produce the unusual, butterfly or insect-like flowers (to 6 inches across). Should be grown epiphytically on slabs of bark or cork. Not suited for containers. Requires full light, high humidity and light watering. Feed weekly, and mist instead of water, in summer. Important Info : Also known as Oncidium papilio. from backyardgardener.com are they not one in the same? |
I would say they are basically the same. A rose by any other name...... :)
